How should real estate agents follow up with seller leads?
A useful real estate lead follow-up system responds to the original enquiry, checks the homeowner’s selling plans, agrees a next step and keeps the conversation relevant to their timeline. Peak Presence supports this with live North American ISAs and 90 days of automated text and email follow-up, rather than handing an agent an unworked list of names.

What should your first response to a seller lead say?
Identify yourself and connect your response to the enquiry. An example to adapt is: ‘Hi [Name], this is [Name] with [Agent/Team]. You asked about selling your home in [Area]. Is now a good time to talk about your plans?’ Do not imply you have spoken before if you have not.
If the homeowner prefers a text or email, use that preference. Ask one useful question, such as their ideal moving timeline, rather than sending a long sales pitch. These are sample messages, not transcripts of client calls or a guaranteed conversion script.
What should a North American ISA do on the first call?
The ISA establishes ownership, motivation, timeline, listing status and willingness to speak with the agent. The goal is a relevant handoff or appointment, not persuading every enquiry to book immediately.
Record notes in the CRM, confirm the next step and route the homeowner’s property-specific questions to the agent. Automated confirmations can support the call, but they do not replace a person listening to why the homeowner may sell.
How should you follow up when a homeowner does not answer?
Leave a concise, identifiable message when appropriate and record the attempt. A sample text is: ‘Hi [Name], following up on your enquiry about selling in [Area]. Would you prefer a call, or is there a better time to reach you?’ Only use channels for which you have appropriate permission.
Avoid escalating into repeated calls simply because a lead did not answer. Check time zones, contact preferences, consent and suppression status before the next attempt. Applicable calling, texting and email rules differ by location; review your process with qualified compliance advice.
How do you nurture a seller with a longer timeline?
Ask permission to reconnect at a time that fits the homeowner’s plan. Useful follow-up might answer a preparation question, explain the appointment process or provide agent-reviewed context about their local market. Refer back to the reason they originally considered selling.
Peak Presence includes 90 days of follow-up in its system. That service window is not a reason to contact everyone on an identical schedule: adjust the next conversation to the seller’s response and stop outreach when requested.
How do you prevent missed appointments and measure follow-up quality?
Confirm the time, meeting format, participating decision-makers and what the agent will discuss. Offer an easy way to reschedule. If an appointment is missed, ask whether the homeowner still wants the conversation instead of assuming they are no longer interested.
Track contact, qualification, booking, attendance and signed listings separately. A reply is not an appointment, and an appointment is not a signed listing. Review the CRM notes when a stage stalls so the fix addresses the actual obstacle.
What else should you know about how should you follow up with seller leads??
Should real estate follow-up be automated or handled by a person?
Use automation for routing, confirmations, reminders and permitted nurture messages. Use a person for seller conversations and qualification. Peak Presence uses live North American ISAs supported by automated SMS and email.
How long does Peak Presence follow up with seller leads?
Peak Presence includes 90 days of automated text and email follow-up supported by North American ISAs. Actual contact should reflect the seller’s timeline, preferences, permissions and opt-out requests.
What should you do when a seller asks you to stop contacting them?
Stop the requested outreach and update the CRM and relevant suppression lists so calls and automated messages do not continue. Review applicable rules for each channel and jurisdiction.
